Question Custom Gauge replacement in my FD

I am now working on replacing ALL the gauges in the cluster ith Autometer Carbon fober ones , I am putting in oil temperature and water temperature , fuel level , a 5 " indash memory 10K RPM tach (My motor goes to 10K) and teir 160mph electronic speedo . the actuall install is pretty simple , time consuming but simple , what I need to work out is how to keep my warning lights (ABS , charging , seatbelt , beam etc.) and indicator lights , since I have to diacard of everything behind there , anyone done this before ? , is there a way to install warning lights behind there and connect them to the factory harnes ??

gauge upgrade

This is the Nitrous Express FD. Never done this mod but if you have the wiring schematic, you should be able to figure out which wires need to be spliced for the new gauges. I'm guessing you need to keep the housing for the stock cluster so you can plug the harness back in. Just get rid of the guts (stock meters ang gauges). Good luck

Hit "gmonsen" with a PM. Gordon did the same thing with his FD.

I have seen GMonsen's car in person and after all that time and money he put in the dash I thought it looked completely ugly (just like the Nitrous Express).

Doesn't the cost of the Stack equal all 9 of your guages (just asking)?

The stack dashes start around $1400 without the sender units and the Motecs are close to 5 grand. Personally, I wasn't crazy about Gmonsen's dash, BUT I have to say it looked much better in person than in the photos.

yeah the opinion varies, but in reality that was an extensive custom job to solve a specific problem. I liked what Gordon did, maybe not my taste, but like he said he had no choice when he went with the gauges. Give him one more try with the Defi gauges and I bet its a masterpiece. The supercluster from Defi is nice if you could integrate it into the cluster, sitting in front of the existing gauges as it does seems pretty tacky for the price you pay. Much props to Gordon for actually trying and accomplishing that. BTW was that comment about not much power to brag, supposed to be funny? I thought that a NA 3 rotor would rip the ***** of some things? am I wrong?

I do agree , the dash in the photo looks crappy , but I think its because of the carbon fiber hood and they tried to fit too many gauges in there. I have chosen the carbon fiber series gauges , I thin the look very cool and the price is right , I plan to set them up similar to stock with a 5" in dash memory tach flanked on the right by the 3.5" 150 mph electronic speedo and on the left with oil temp. , water temp. and fuel level gauges. In the middle of the dash , where the speaker grill used to be , I'm putting one of Flyrx7's tripple pods with a 2 5/8" oil pressure gauge , a fuel pressure and intake temperature gauges.
My taste , or G monsens may not be the same as some of you out there , but as the saying goes , to each his own . I personally prefer true functionality and uniqueness over "fitting in" with the rest .
