Is the CU II needed for the Defi D-Gagues?

Is the CU II needed for the Defi D-Gagues?
Right now I have the Defi Link system (green backlighting) and I was looking at getting the D-Gauges because they match stock FD lighting. Do i need to get the newer control unit (CU) for the D Gauges to work? Or can i use the one i am using now for my Defi Link gauges? Thanks fellas.
