Check out my custom Sound System.. Subs and box!!!

well, i got this from a firend and im starting to install it but decided to mod it a lot because i didnt like the way it sits.. its going to be pushed towards the rear of the car more so i have more room in between the box and divider to do some custom work... here are pics so far... the box is not set in yet but it fits perfectly... also, i want to install it the right way.. on my firends car, they used 2 inch self tapping wood screws and didnt even look out for the gas tank!!

here is the website link to the pics and info of what is installed and going to be

http://www.goldenautomart.com/Subs_sound_system.htm

note, nothing is attached yet, and i just set the black cover over the subs for the pic..... its going to be fiberglassed and painted to match the car:

thanks!!

Are you sure? The subs alone would be nearly that. Or more?

I agree that vinyl will match your interrior better then paint. BTW what is the whole on the left side for?
P.S. I hope your filling those open pockets besides the box with capactors or something. The amp would probably fit real nice in there and out of sight.

Vinyl is a synthetic leather. Looks good and you can get it the same color as your interrior. A little heat gun and it stretches real nice.

3 JL's? ...can your sub handle a 1ohm load?

That box with those speakers are at least 60lbs. Maybe less if the subs are weak W0's. W6's would be about 15lbs/ea (I have two). Are you going to use speaker grills since they are not covered?

I think JL's are one of the best subs.. I used to be really into car stereo back in 94-96.. I used to go thru subs like oil change.. After I got the w6's that was it.. I still have them.. The new JLw7s.. wow.. amazing.. i'm not as into it as before but, when i heard the 8w7 and 10w7s, man.. just amazing..

Phil, if you think the 8w7s I had were something, you should hear the 12w6v2. IMO (and many other audio magazines), it's the best 12" sub they've ever tested. Sounds 100 times better than the 8w7s IMO. 12w7 is great, but vastly impractical for an FD. The w7s require such a large enclosure space, and vent from around the cone AND from the rear, requiring even more room for mounting. Plus, contrary to popular belief, you can have too much bass. But yea it's def hot. I can't wait to see your sound setup. We're gonna have to go at it
