Carbon fiber wrapped some parts

It's been a year since I've done this mod but I was going through my phone and I thought I might post them up. Sorry about the crappy phone pics.

Attention all flamers: I've also covered the rear reflectors and reverse lights with red overlay

Exhaust area was a little tricky and since the black section under the bumper is too long we had to do the whole thing in 2 parts but we matched the CF motive perfectly so you can't really tell it's 2 piece.

Looks awesome! Been wanting to do this myself. How are they holding up in the elements? Did you clear coat them afterwards or do anything to protect them? From what I have read, they will go about 4-5 years outdoors, unprotected.

Thanks guys. Clearcoating doesn't work with this stuff. I've seen a patch (I shoud've taken a pic) that's been clearcoated and it didn't look good. It's one of those theory vs. practice things I guess. Apparently there are some glossy cf vinyls in the market but I like the dry carbon look.

They've been holding up well but I haven't been driving the car that much to be honest. I have a friend who had these on his BMW long before I had mine and his one is also holding up fine, and he drives that car everyday rain or shine.

How does one go about doing this wrap thing? What all do I need? This is a nice subtle mod and I'm sure the exterior parts would last indefinitely for me since its mostly a garage queen anyway

Awesome! I appreciate the wealth of information. I'll probably get around to this later in the year hopefully. My handles look terrible.

Subtle is what I want whenever I mod my cars or bikes To do this mod, you need a stanley knife or scissors, a heat gun or a hair dryer, a gentle cleaning agent to clean the plastics and an adhesive (not compulsory but we used it on mine not to take any chances because sometimes they may bubble or peel at corners. It'll also be easier if you have a friend to help you. He can hold the heat gun while you have both hands on the vinyl or the part, it'll take less time. The rest is in the videos below:

My door handles weren't bad but had some scratches, being a little OCD I did this mod Plus if it doesn't work out you can always go back and have them painted.

A friendly advice to anyone thinking of cf wrapping the front spoiler, I haven't done this because I've seen cars with this mod and when they scrape the spoiler, it doesn't get scratched like plastic, chunk of cf vinyl rips off and looks crap.

And this is a pic of how it looks when you clear coat the cf wrap:

The car has been sitting in the garage mostly but it's holding up fine. I've noticed a very very tiny air bubble (only visible if the car is on the lift) on the rear valance in the area near the muffler, probably due to application not wear, no big deal a pin will take care of that.

I don't offer such services, due to my location the shipping cost alone would be a deal breaker. For the same amount you can get a pro in US to do the same.

HOWEVER, if anyone has the original front triangles (inside and outside) in great condition (no scratches or broken tabs) I may consider a trade with my CF ones. Only the mirror triangles though, not the door handles.

Theres a guy on the forum that already offers this service... I can do it as well if anyone is interested... Im doing my car at the moment so these tiny pieces are simple to me compared to fenders and hoods etc.
This is all vinyl'd with 3m matte white (expect rear bumper)

one of the most helpful videos ive seen is this... helped me understand the shrink and stretch characteristics of vinyl..

ps how do you like the cf? i bought some and i dont like the look.. kinda looks a little holographic in bright light/flash/sunlight...
