Carbon Fiber Fabrication

I was interested in getting some stuff custom made in carbon fiber. Is any one interested so I can split the mold cost? Let me know I am new to this forum thing, but I will figure it out by tonight.

He's not talking about the CF overlays like the other threads.

Custom,

You might PM "Skunks". I think he has been trying to make some molds to do full CF interior pieces.

The biggest problem as most people have run into is creating the mounting tabs that most (if not all) of the interior pieces have.

The mounting will not be a problem the guy that I am using makes full carbon fiber parts for Ducati motorcycles that is his business. He says that if he can not make it work then no one can. He has been working with fibers for over 20 years and has some perfect stuff that I have bought for my bike. But I will check in with Skunks. Thanks

Yayo420 have you made anything yourself or are you interested in making anything at all, becuase I just like the look makes it even move exotic, and that is what I am going for this time.

Ya I like the idea, let see if i can get it done. And what woudl you be willing to pay becuase that is a rather large part. The door panels would be nice to and for under 3500 for the set I think we can do that. but I am not sure how much cheapier becuase in order for the windows to work that would be some work. Let me know.

I was thinking an under belly pan to replace the stock peice of crap would be a good thing to make out of Carbon fiber. What do you guys thing about that. Or we can get it dont in metal or something. Let me know if you think that is a good idea.

I think the first piece of road junk or rock or curb that hits it and it will look like complete crap. Or break loose and start peeling.

It's also UNDER the car. If you're going to burn money for CF just for the heck of it, put it where the ghetto girlies will see it.

Well I am not doing it for the carbon fiber look. Like the hood I would rather ahve it painted then to show the carbon fiber. The whole underbody thing should not cost more than $400 and I think that would be worth it to replace the plastic crap taht is there.

Exactly what benefit(s) would CF have over plastic for the undercarriage?

Plastic has a very high impact resistance, it's tough (bends but doesn't break), doesn't wear away under fastener heads when subjected to vibration, low friction, is cheap, is light.

All of those things would be issues with carbon fiber. Go ahead and make one, but if this is about function, I think you'll end up needing to switch back to plastic pretty quickly.

What are you guys driving over, some one said curbs................ Be careful. Well no big deal I think I will go with aluminum always like a nice big one piece under the front of the car. With some luvers cut into it. I think that would work nicely.
