This is the ONLY thing i could find on the VIS website about it... (www.visracing.com)

"We are proud to introduce our Poly Fiber products for the New Year. This amazing fiberglass product is made out of a space age material that helps our bumpers retain memory than polyurethane products. These polyfiber kits are more flexible and more light weight compared to urethane kits. Our PolyFiber products are more durable and resilient than our competitors"

and

"All bumpers and bodykits in general are made out of fiberglass unless stated otherwise. Several layers of fiberglass are used to insure strength and durability of each bumper. Each bumper is primered with a smooth yellow finish. New and improved PolyFiber material has been developed that is as flexible as polyurethane but still made out of fiberglass. See FAQ question related to it below."

Unfortunately, they don't have anything more in the FAQ section...but like i said, when they had just come out w/ it, they had a cpl pages dedicated to it...but I guess they still haven't posted that info yet on their new site...

and FYI...it'll take 4 - 8 weeks from when you order it for you to receive it, since they make it per special order only

If you click on "tracer" under RX7, it has all the C west parts.. c west front, rear, and sideskirts

the magnum kit (also under RX7) has the mazdaspeed front bumper and mazdaspeed sideskirts...

Here's the confusing part
The red car under the tracer kit has c west front & rear, and mazdaspeed sideskirts, and they use that red car to show off the front and rear bumpers ONLY. when you click on the sideskirts under tracer, it'll show a different silver FD that has the tracer (c west) sideskirts...

point being, they have both. which one you want is your choice.

i personally think the c west skirts dont look as nice, so i got the mazdaspeed ones. so if that's what you're lookin to get, you're in luck cuz you'll see 'em in the pics of my car as well =)

Just a note on carbon fiber (please correct me if any of this info is wrong, as I'm no expert). There are different ways to make CF. The most cost effective way to create CF parts, and what most manufacturers of after market parts use, is to just use a resin glue to combine layers of carbon fiber and hold them into a certain shape. I believe this is known as "wet" CF.

The other method involves cooking the CF in high temp, high pressure ovens. This is known as "dry" CF. This is the process that is used to create race car chassis and is very strong (stronger than steel, as you put it). This process is also very expensive, so you don't really see CF tuner parts made this way (although I believe RE Amemiya sells some dry carbon parts)

wow.Thanx for the explanation. Now I know a lot more than before about carbon fiber.I cant believe that they even sel carbon fiber hoods that are supposedly lighter.I talked to one guy that replaced his stock s2000 hood with a carbon fiber hood only to gain an extra 6 punds. What a crock of ****.
ohh yeah fdnewbie.I gave vis a call and they quoted me a really good price for the cwest front and rears with the gtc sideskirts.Damn good price for the polyfiber.Im going to order the kit within the month for sure.
Ohh yeah another quick question.Which of the makoto turn signals look like the 99 spec ones? As there are there different kinds.Thanx.

Some times, "stiffness" isn't what you want. Rather, flexibility can be a big plus.

For example, IF your bumper is an "invincible" bumper...assuming that you hit a dip...what will break? The screws/clips maybe?

This is a reason why some people choose urethane as opposed to fiberglass. The forgiving nature of the material is a big plus for those that have to deal w/ speed bumps, dips, low curbs, etc.

It is hard to say "how hard of an impact" the bumper will take w/o at least looking at the product.
Good info DOM so I quoted it. Also sometimes you dont want flexible too. Got to think* what you do, what you need, and the best for your driving and the car.

Speeddemon...PMed ya. Oh and as for the turn signals, dawg, just buy 'em from corksport.com or somethin. It's like $60, and between me and you, they're the stock mazda turnsignals from tributes, proteges, and i think MPVs. Except the dealership will sell 'em for like $40 - $60 EACH.... while corksport or rx7.com sell the PAIR for like $60. They don't come w/ any wires tho, so you'll have to run wires from the factory turn signal to the lights...

Oh and as for the hood, in *most* cases CF hoods are significantly lighter than stock hoods...but it just happens that FD stock hoods are made of super light aluminum, so they're already extremely light as it is. CF hoods in that case won't give you *much* of a weight difference, but I guess it depends on your application

Clarification...

I thought you were talking about the 99 spec sidemarkers...most ppl call them turn signals too. Those are what run $60

The 99 spec combo lights...those are expensive. Like $400.

And with this poly fiber material, if it were to crack or something(the pot holes are pretty bad..more like craters) would you just go about repairing it as if it were regular fiber glass?

Yes and no.

Yes, you would just repair it as if it's fiberglass, and you're done w/ it

No, because that cracked area that you're repaired w/ regular fiberglass no longer lends as much flexibility as it used to...(when it was all polyfiber)

I'm sure it's *possible* to repair polyfiber using polyfiber materials, but you'll never find out how/what that is, since that's the very thing that makes it their trade secret...

But if i mite add...once you feel the polyfiber peice in your hand, you'll realize how hard it would be to crack that thing. It's quite flexible and resilient. I'm talkin about fender-bender impact...since it gives so much. Fiberglass, on the other hand, if you take the two ends in your hands and apply even slight pressure, you can HEAR the fiberglass cracking...very fragile stuff indeed

How much weight would you save if you replace the factory front fenders and hood with the CF units from Carbon creations? I'm going with the '99 spec front bumper.

Carbon

I think the save bet would to get the Carbon Creations fenders. Those things would look good painted or unpainted.

I personally like them, but a) i think they have to flow with the entire car...so it depends what else the body looks like, and b) you just CANT leave them raw. clear coat that junx. unfinished carbon fiber is tacky...and very rice IMHO
