You're right about it being stupidly expensive. Literally. When I get a quote for $1200 to put the film on my front bumper...that's just retarded. I can get my front bumper repainted for like $200, and that's a high quality job. If these 3M applicator guys want to make any money, they need to make it CHEAPER than getting your bumper repainted - or at worst, the same or very close in price.

The 3M film is meant for high end cars where getting the entire car repainted would be undesirable... not cheap Japanese sports cars where the paint on the bumper never really matched the paint on the body all that well in the first place.
