calling all stereo gurus.
I got a whole lot of cash for my b-day and now it's time to spoil my baby..... need advice on what kind of components will fit in a fd. i prefer 6.5" components.. will the high end mb quartzs fit w/o much modification. What are the name of the better amps out there now to drive them? i have a touring so will i need speakers in the back or will the high end components in the front enuf? i have some rockford and mtx amps in my civic and they don't impress me much. oh yeah what size subs do i need...for best tight bass... i listen to rap and dance music. thanks for all your help. i did a whole bunch of searches. just confused me even more
kevin. i really should be saving for my single turbo. lol

i have an 87' and i have two 12" power acoustic, dual 2 ohm voice coils, 1800 watt subs that i mounted in those two storage compartments behind the seats (after i removed the compartments and made a lid,and dynomated the inside of them). i mounted 2 moster power digital capacitors right in front on the subs (horizontally), and i have 2 2000 watt, 1/2 ohm, 4 channel amps mounted behind the seat. there is a digital epicenter under each seat, and a equilizer mounted below the pioner dh-2500 head unit. (IT'LL GIVE YOU NOSE BLEEDS AND I CANT TURN IT ON WHILE I DRIVE, THOSE LINES ON THE ROAD MOVE AROUND TO MUCH)

Um mb quarts are good speakers. Another set up you may want to look at is the boston acustics. They make great componit systems for the price. You should be able to do 6.5"s in the doors. Great amps are the phinex gold titaniums. Its there top of the line amps they make. Or JL amps are very good too. I have 2 12"s in my FD had a custom box made but it fits just perfect in the back. There JL w3s. Has a pretty good hit to it. I belive the rear speakers are 5x7 or 5x9 its one of those. And agian the front is 6.5 so a 6.5 componit should fit fine. Back to subs. The JL is a louder boom bass. Ones that are a good cleaner bass if there still made is the infinity kapa perfects.

i have an fc, so i dont know about the door pannel sizes of the fd, but i went and installed the 6.5 focal polykevlar compontents, they fit really well, and sound very nice, i have about 90 watts running into each of them... with the polykevlar 165k2's the up front bass is really impressive, and is actualy making me have second thoughts about my origional plan for a sub

I am not a guru, but the omega ampilied tubes sound AWESOME, if setup correctly, and even though it would be hard to get Bose by far has the best speakers. Expensive as hell, but go for it. I dont know if you have a deck, but if not Id go with a new Kenwood Excelon. They have soooo many features. There ya go. Hope it helps.

alright alright. if your after sound quality, and not a flashy looking deck. get a Nakamichi or McIntosh, they sound sooooo good. if you want both, go eclipse, also very nice decks.
As for components... go listen in shops if you have any decent shops around, everyone has a different preference when it comes to speakers. MB quartz Q series, Infiniti Perfect 6.1, anything by McIntosh (very expensive however), Focals are also right up there, Rainbow, Adire audio is also good, and much cheaper. I would suggest getting kick pods made, if they fit. I however dont' have my FD yet (I'll get it this week i hope, YAY).
some of the best amps are McIntosh, Zapco, Eclipse, Nakamichi, JLs aren't bad either (and there' are a bunch more, but remember this is all just an opinion, get what you think sounds good, McIntosh is excellent and what i have)..
Subs, can't go wrong with a JLW7, or Adire Audio Brahma.

The W7 would be nice but its going to be hard to fit on in a FD easly. Probaly be lucky if you could fit one 10" W7 in it. Still say use the phinix gold amps. If you want good power and some what of a showey look to them.

heres a vote for image dynamics IDQ subs...theyre GREAT.
I also love kenwood high end amps. Kenwood head units are good, but the new ones are kinda ugly.
I hear that for the money the type R alpines are good subs.
Eclipse and Nakamichi heads are great too.
W7's are pretty expensive. One W6 would work nicely.
JL amps are good as well.

I have yet to hear a Bose speaker that actually sounds good. Some of them sound OK, and some of their home stereo stuff is interesting in terms of effects (stereo everywhere type stuff) but really good sound? I don't think so.
I personally went with Bostons in my FD...I'm happy with them, although my exhaust is louder than it used to be so I can't really tell anymore :-)

another component setup to consider would be diamond audio. Personally I like JL but it all depends on what you like. Go to a local higher end shop and listen to different lines. As for your question about the Eclipse amps. You're going to have a hard time finding them online because of the way they choose their distributors and such. Just so you know.
