called crutchfield

i went ahead and called crutchfield about putting some extra thump in the trunk. well i have a 93 touring with the bose package. i thought that i would have to rip everything out and start over. little did i know i was told that all i would have to do is splice into an existing speaker wires with a pre-powered sub(ie. bazooka or infinity). has anyone tried this? i may be doing this as the highs are still crisp in the stereo, and the bass is just a tad under where i want it.
