C-West lights or HID upgrade in stock housing
I'm in the sameboat myself, I like the C-West kit, cause I like the Carbon and the fact that you don't have to hack the frame, but I want HID's and better lighting. I think I may wait until the RX7Even/N-Tech kit comes out. I really like the way the pop ups look, but the lighting sucks!!! Even if you spend the money to upgrade to the H4 kit, you will lose high/low beam and the output will still be crap.
I figure its either going to be.
1. HID N-tech kit (eta???)
2. Rotary Extreme HID low kit.
3. C-west.

I am looking at just going with the HID upgrade. Not sure though since my headlights bounce alot when driving. Does anyone else have this problem? My car was also in an accident before I bought it. Could that be the problem? If I can't get the bounce fixed I am going with the Rotary Extreme lights.
the_glass_man - the lights are still coming along. The prototype should be coming along very very very soon.
2 hott - When the headlight is up, there is a bumpstop on it to keep it tight and from bouncing. If for some reason it is not there or loose, that would cause the problem. Take the headlight lid off, and look down inside the housing (from the top), and you should see what I'm talking about inside and toward the outside of the car. There's a piece of metal coming off the headlight bracket that is mounted to the car, attached to that is a screw with a rubber piece at the end, that is the part you need to tighten so it is tight against the headlight housing when it is up. Hope that made sense.

rx7even- Thanks, that was the problem but I can't fix the passanger side light since it was mangled in the accident so time to look for a new headlight assembly or the Rotary Extreme set.
Well, I'm torn actually.
During the day I love the look of the pop-up lights when there down better than any non pop-ups.
At night, I love the look of non pop-ups better than the stock ones.
But I wouldnt pay that much for some lights. Use that money on performance.

I say dont waste the money on an H4 upgrade kit, its not the bulbs fault the light pattern sucks. The reflector in the stock headlight is crap. Mag Lites have better reflectors. If you put the HID kit in, youll have really bright sections of the street, but you wont have an even beam and it will be bad. Im waiting until someone makes a good kit that lights up the night like a Acura CL/TL or a BMW 5 series...
i have the c west headlight kit on my rx7..... and tell you the truth, i liked the lighting better when i had the old popup headlights with hyperwhite bulbs...... the smoked cover on the c west lights kinda dims the light a little...... its hard to see signs at night time....... they do look good thougth..... but sometimes i think to myself that an rx7 is not the same without the popups

i looked at each of them last night, i never paid attention to the holes for the bolts.... the T's are are obvious, and the TD's you can't really see them, unless if you have a close-up pic.....

I'm caught in the middle here
since I bought my 7 wrecked, I already planned on spending some change. I have been surfing heavy on the subject and found a few write ups that give concerns. The stock popup has poor reflectors so even with a great bulb you don't get what might be possible. I have not found anyone selling a popup lens/reflector to correct this. Most of the flush mounts require cutting the supports to make room, they also have had a low angle light problem since the pattern is obstructed by the housing. I could use some help from onyone with hands on.
