BOSE system complete elimination?? Anyone done it??
First off I've done the search and came up with things that are close but not quite what I wanted.
Was wondering if anyone with the bose system actually rewired all the speakers by getting rid of all the amps and ran the wires all the way back to the stereo deck, so on and so forth.
If there's any write up on a seperate site I would really appreciate it.

I don't know if you have seen the sticky:

I know what you're saying. Everything BOSE has been removed from my car. I'm running an Eclipse 8443 HU. I have Kappa Perfect 5.1 Components in the doors powered by a Polk Amp. Yes, I did rewire the doors. I'm also running a Basslink in the back. It's a lot of work to do all of this. I complete made new enclosures for the front speakers to deal with mounting depth.
I removed every piece of BOSE equipment from my car and replaced them with
Panasonic 7" in dash monitor/AM-FM tuner in top din hole
CD, DVD, SACD, MP3 Player in lower din hole
BA Pro 6.5 comps in the doors
RF 10" sub in removable enclosure (cant have the sub drifting in the back)
US Acoustics Amp 175x2 for the front speakers
US Acoustics Amp 250x1 for the rear sub
Total investment ~ $1200 and it sounds better than any factory stereo in any car I've ever heard (Except the Mark Levinson stuff in the new Lexus LS430)
No distortion at the volume levels I listen to, crisp, decent imaging (tough to get good imaging in a car like this without a delay feature or some creative mounting of speakers), good bass (I don't listen to rapcrap so I didn't need a 15" sub). Im real happy with the setup so far, though id advise against the monitor - I hardly ever use it except when "showing off", or on long runs. (I do listen to the Simpsons on the way home though, but leave the screen retradted)
Buy good speaker wire, and good cables - dont skimp on the wires if you can afford it. Keep the runs as short as possible and don't run power along/next to speaker wire.
PM/email me and I can get you some pics and tips of how I did my setup, but I dont have a writeup
