Question Bose speaker replacements?

I've already done a search on this and it did not turn up enough info for me....
I want to get rid of the whole Bose system and get that giant peice of crap out of the back of my car!!!
I've already changed out the head unit with a good Sony one a while back. I now want to turn my attention to the speakers. I already have a bass tube for the back, that is still sitting in my garage.
I would like some ideas and/or suggestions regarding replacement of the door speakers and also on an amp to power the fronts and the bass tube.
My budget is under $500.00
I don't want a thunderous bass-mobile. I just want good clean sound without spending an arm and a leg!

TIA!!

BTW. 93 Touring.

Don't get too big a speaker for your doors. I went with MB Quart PSC 316's and they were too big. They're 6 1/2's by the way. I had to remove the old speaker enclosure and glue some of the speaker to the door with brackets. It was a pain in the ***.

agreed it's a total pita. 5s can basically fit where the stock bose speakers were. if you go any bigger you have to start from scratch as far as speaker mounting is concerned. I was recently quoted 300 to do the mounts out of fiberglass (mind you not including the $450 I already spent on the speakers). want to sell the bose tube?
