body work + paint cost

just bought some body pieces and I am looking to paint my car this spring and I am wondering what I am looking at cost wise to have the following done:
1. 99 spec front bumper installed
2. FEED side skirts fitted
3. Full paint job (skyline blue or something along those lines) minus engine bay.

Just had my car painted (front to back-no engine bay) with OEM 95 white (sorry don't know color code). If you want this type of job done (or something like what you mentioned)which will result in an extra crispy look then were talking 4K and up.
Now if you want to swing by a franchised paint shop that will do an OK job were talking alot alot less. I didn't bother pricing that cause were talking about an FD, really depends how clean and clear you want the job done.
Hope that gives you a clue to what a paint job cost. Everything you want done will cost you a pretty penny. If you've got the money then go for it.
Good luck, post some pics when its done.

Depending on where you live, it will cost between $300-$500 per panel for a quality paint job. So, as the previous poster suggested, start at $4k and go upwards.

One of the reasons that buying an FD with poor paint is rarely a good idea.

I'm curious of this too. I will be ordering a few parts soon (front bumper and side skirts) and I was wondering what the estimated cost would be just to get those parts painted VR (sorry I dont know the color code but that shouldn't matter anyway). Sorry to hijack your thread. I haven't been quoted by any shops yet as I don't have the parts yet. Thanks.

mine was around 4k, for a complete respray including jams and such.

Granted if you want a show finsh, no orangle peel, and such its going to cost more.

Don't know how handy you are but the bumper and side skirts you can put on yourself. I did mine. Then send it out for paint but you are talking 4k+ and you'd still have to have your engine bay done IMO unless your car is black. I went from VR to Daytona Blue a couple of years ago.

If done right i.e. hinges, molding etc. removed, engine painted it'll cost you easily $5000 + depending on the type of paint and whatever additional things you ask for. Do it once and do it right!

Correct on that pricing, but if you spray yourself, a FD with poor paint isnt all that bad. :p Funny thing is tho, for a good job you need to spend around $3k on tools/paint, haha. Then in the end, was it worth all your stress and frustration,,,, hell yes!

Complete paint jobs usually start around $5,000 at a profesional shop. Check around. Get lots of opinions. Take it where you feel most comfortable.

It should've also been stated that the cost will vary "substantially" depending on your location. Cali and New York will be $$$, same with Chicago. Smaller markets will be cheaper though...

I got my car painted in TJ Mexico:

$1600 for:
The prepping of the car which included: Removing the windshield, and back window, the 99 wing, mud guards, light pieces, trunk area, front lip and whatever other pieces that can come off and show blue, rolling the fenders, and countless door dings. Midway through the project I decided that I didn’t want the wing so they welded in pieces and filled in the holes.

The painting includes: Full paint job changing from Montego Blue to Corvette yellow, including doorjams, sunroof, trunk area, the carbon fiber hood, the OEM hood, the aftermarket light kit, the OEM headlight covers, all 4 mudguards, my Apexi style side skirts. They used 5 year dupont paint BTW.

1 ½ gallons of clear. To try and achieve a settting where the paint looks and sits really deep.

The car had additional body damage that was repaired while at the shop. Here in the US it was estimated at over 3k just for the repairs. The shop did it for an additonal $600 IIRC.

So if anybody in the socal area wants to get their car painted for ¼ the price shoot me a pm.

Go to the right place, you can save an *** load crossing the border and get a quality job. Go to the wrong place, and you will never see your 7 again.

^^^^

Yeah there’s some truth to that actually… Never take you car to a shop unless YOU actually know the place. The owner of the shop came highly recommended, not only that I saw their work on my friend’s car. They typically don’t do custom jobs as their bread and butter is collision/insurance work. In the end I was very impressed with the work, diligence, and honesty of the place. It’s certainly a 6k paint job no doubt about it.

Here’s a pic of the shop:

Thanks . Living next to the border has some advantages... SInce labor is extremely cheap down there.
