body part....

can anyone tell me why body parts from one 1st gen won't fit another 1st gen, when they are suposed to match just fine?
i have an 85 1st gen, and i am replacing my entire front end b/c of a wreck and i bought donor parts from another guys' rx7 (which is an 84). there shouldn't be any problems with the parts swap b/c the body styles are the same, but for whatever reason i can't quite get the holes to line up so that i can bolt them on.
has anyone had this problem before? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

it's the fender i can't get to line up, and there's no frame damage there.
