I hate the sun visors. they just look like cheap plastic. and with a price tag of $500 for the pair... i think i'll pass.

i do however like the apex commander install.

you guys need to get real. here is the upshot for those of you that are concerned with straightline performance. rule of thumb is 100lbs loses you about a 10th of a second in the quarter mile. this doesn't make a real world(street racing) difference. considering things like launching, reaction times, shifting, etc. it might make a difference at the track with equally skilled drivers where there is a way of measuring a tenth of a second, but if you are going to the track take out your system, just like you would take out your jack spare tire etc. most of you can't even think fast enough the count a tenth of a sec.

If a viper pulls up next to you and all you lose by is a tenth of a second consider it a tie, cuz the nose of your car will be about a 2feet behind his. cut me some fricking slack. do you guys really race or just talk about it.

for those of you that are such purest about how good a design the mazda engineers did then why do you mod your engine, suspension, or exterior? shouldn't you be driving a stock RX7? I mean the mazda engineers made everything perfect didn't they?

i know how I overcame the "heavy" speaker system. I added performance mods. don't you guys have better things to do than jump in on threads just to bash people. the thread title is "biggest system in FD" NOT
"Poll: do you think I should put a system in my FD, cuz I am such a ***** that I care what people on the forum think about my car?" Like most of you seem to have interpreted it.

Nobody said a thing about drag racing. Some of us like a car to handle, adding un-necessary weight all over the car does not help that, it trashes it. Course you won't knotice, you're only concerned about drag... There is nothing 'purist' about wanting to keep a cars weight down.

then tell me master of the back road. exactly how does a hundred lbs affect you while you burn a back road on a sunday? cuz I haven't noticed a difference. I driven enough cars and had enough experience to feel the difference.

Like I stated in an earlier post if you drive at 10/10ths all the time, then I am sure you can tell the difference, but I would put money on the fact that you don't.

Not that it such a small difference can't be overcome with proper suspension tuning, but whatever.

The mistake most of you guys make is that because someone is new to RX7s that they are new to cars. maybe that is because the FDs have gotten cheap enough to where almost anyone can afford them(including teenagers running on mommy and daddy's money), but regardless thinking that way is just plain naive.

For me it's a lot about esthetics and room, for my taste there's barely enough room to have a fun drive up the California coast, and pack an overnight bag, once you add a "Biggest System in an FD" to that, I'm out as far as what the car means to me .... but I'm all about individuality, and the Blue / Amber thing is a curiosity, since I try to look into the deeper meaning of design instead of just taking something at face value... and if you have a great reason for having Blue gauges, as in they are more visible, I'm intrigued...

that makes sense to me.

the fact that most speaker systems change the performance of the FD is pure BS. I am sure you can build a 300lb system that will mess up the performance, but most will not. If you tell me I don't like it, I don't need it, or that is not my bag. Then that is just a matter of opinion and everyone is entitled to an opinion, but don't start to bring in bogus reasons why it doesn't make sense for other people to do it. that is what bothers me.

i believe this started out to be a post of the largest systems in fd's.

Don't post other B S here that is off-topic, go to the lounge for that crap. If you've got nothing productive to add to the topic at hand, don't come back and shut your mouth.

These flame wars are kinda childish.

funny that is what i thought this whole forum was for...that and telling people to use the search function. about the only thing that is really useful on here are the archives.

I joined in on this thread by adding what system I have in my FD, it is others that love to come in and knock what other people are doing, just so they can feel like their ***** is big or rx7 is faster or something.

weight is not going to seriously influence the car....it's no different than being on 1/4 tank of gas as opposed to a full tank...for most systems...

i just thought that we left several things in the 90's...systems, hydraulics, and low riders...
