Big bass, no space...

I want to throw a subwoofer into my Audi, but I need to make sure my son's stroller will still fit into the trunk... I was thinking about getting a 10" Kicker Solobaric L7, because I heard they provide good bass without needing a large box... What I would like to do is make the box as small as possible and mount it to the panel behind the rear seats so it fires directly into the cabin... Basically, mounting the subwoofer in the passenger compartment, but having the box built in the trunk. I have leather seats, so I thought that facing the subs into the seatbacks would muffle them... And, with the amount of baby stuff and dog stuff I haul around in the trunk, I don't want to face the subs out where they could get damaged.

Would any of you do it differently?

Infinty powered 10 or 12inch subs.. they are small but pack a helluva punch.

Cool big bass, no space...

I have a solobaric L7 10" in my Rx7 and it slams even with a tiny .66 cu. ft. box. it takes a lot of watts though, so if you were looking for something less expensive and power hungry go with jl. just my 2 cents & i've been into car audio for over 10 years.

Cool blah

oh yeah, if youre worried about damaging the speaker just install a speaker grill.
I heard that they make the sub bass harder too.
By the way Infinity's are for hippies.

you don't necessarily have to make the box a "box" itself
you could use fiberglass to somewhat mold it into the side of the trunk if you wanted to, maybe losing 1-3 cu. ft. of space

good luck

I don't mind throwing the power to it... I want something that sounds nice and clean... I want to mount it to the top-inside part of the trunk where my CD changer is currently mounted... I don't want to put it on the sides or the floor of the trunk, because, like I said, space is at a premium... I also want it to be as stealth as possible... I don't want people seeing a big speaker box every time I open the trunk...

As far as the "just put a grill on it" comment, I'm talking about a BIG stroller (40 - 50 pounds) that has 14" bike tires... That type of stroller will smash through any speaker grill, including those big waffle covers.

you could go all ghetto, and remove the spare tire and mount a piece of particle board, fiberglass, or even cleaner plexiglass. Cut out the hole for the woofer, and vwalla presto. Believe me it sounds just as good or if not better than having it in a box, and you can roll the carpet over it. I did that with a kicker solo.

of course you have to seal it, but it will work. Also the kicker was a 12"

I can't lose my spare, because I drive 40 miles each way to work... I've had a Bazooka 10 inch tube before, it was actually pretty nice... But again, I don't want to lose too much trunk space.
