Say, has anyone seen the 99spec radio? I think that would be the best IMO but I don't think the tuner would work with US bands. I also am not sure if it has mp3 support... it probably doesn't. Stock radios never do.

 

BTW, in my last post I said "the traffic pro is NOT being sold in the US" I meant to type "is NOW being sold in the US". Perfect stock match, navigation, but no MP3 playback and still pretty expensive - lists $1,500 but he H-K site seems to sell it for $999. The good news is that Phatnoise now makes an MP3 system that is compatible with this head unit.

 

This is an European model though, i dont think you have the black one, but in my S5 with black leather, a S-AFC glowing in the dark and amber Omori gauges, this is the best looking HU i´ve ever seen - to be installed very soon!

I think it will look like a stock unit, and it is actually very good looking in reality!!!

The model is JVC KD-SH 55B.

 

Pioneer and JVC are supposedly coming out with color OEL displays for the 2004 model year. The Pioneers will have customizable backgrounds/animations. Hopefully these can be made to look "stock".

 

This is what I was set on buying until I was told Denon will be coming out with a new unit that plays MP3s in the near future. Note that the face is black annodized alloy not plastic.

 

My JVC (above) is also brushed alu - very heavy and good looking! I personally dont like amber displays - i think the EL with blue/red is much better looking!

Getting back to the original question, Nakamichi's CD-400 looks very OEM.

 

the nak is also a great unit for the money. it has 24bit da!

 

Does Denon have a site for car audio? I can only find info on the home receivers.

I can't wait for OEL to support colors other than silly-blue. Then the only remaining challenge will be to find a HU with black face and reasonable sized buttons.
