Anyone putting together a high-end audio system?
Anyone putting together a high-end audio system?
I bought a Blaupunkt San Francisco headunit when I was planning on installing a high-end system. As of late, my priorities have changed and I'm going to have to listen to the Bose crap a while longer. This thing sells for well over $500, and I'm in desperate need to sell it. Would anyone like to take this thing off my hands? It is their top-of-the line unit. 5volt preamp outs, remote, the works. Someone contact me if they're interested in a great place to build from.
Thanks,
Jason
p.s. I know this belongs in the "for sale" section, but it won't get any exposure there. Mods, please give me a day or two in here first.

If you wanted to go high end then why buy Blaupunkt? There stuff is notorious for frying amps. You should have not bought that crap.

However, if you've seen those problems recently, I stand corrected. I thought they had stepped up.

For reliability in head units, I choose JVC. SQ is pretty good, not the best but hard to tell the difference especially with mp3 players. I had a JVC tape deck and cd changer combo for 9 years, the first 4 years it was in my trunk of my Crown Vic with my 1000W RMS 18's. Never skipped (only sometimes on very very bad roads with 18s hitting.) They still play perfectly to this day.

The units I was talking about were possibly the exception top the rule.If everyone says they are good then maybe they are. Sony ES still makes the best stuff bar none!!

I have the Eclipse 5302 it is 6yrs old and still sounds great, I have had no problems with it at all. I also have MB Quart Q's 6.5" in the doors, Eclipse 10" aluminum dvc sub, and a Xtant 3300 amp. the system sounds great and doesn't take up very much space. It is all preatty much high end stuff and I did most of the install myself.

and its discontinued a few years ago but it seems like they came up with a new headunit in japan(others are the same). one of their unique thing is that they use optical wires from headunit to processor and to amps.
you can dig up some photos and info (all that i could read was only prices
) at http://www.pioneer.co.jp/carrozzeria_x/index.htmlhope it helps.
oh BTW, if your interested in digital setup, better check out Alpine F-1 series.
