Anyone paint their whole car?

I just bought my fd and want to get it repainted. I was just quoted $4000. That just seems too much for this car.
has anyone repainted their car? What have you paid? Where did you take it?
Anyone in pa/nj/ny?
its a 93 VR FD. Any suggestions? Thanks.

That's reasonable, I was qouted 15K for mine, but I did all the bodywork myself. Won't do that again. Materials and getting it painted was around 3.2K.

4k is a good paint job. Which paint shop you're getting the quote from? Where in PA are you? Anywhere near West Chester?

Why is it too much for *this* car?

I paid $4k for paint on my FC. It was a $6k paint job, I got hooked up.

I'm in Bucks. It is a good quality job. He says Dupont paint which I understand is top quality. When you say 4k is a good paint job, you mean it's a good price for a quality paint job, or that I'll be getting top notch work? Just want to clarify.

My body is in good condition with a lot of little dings. He says the body work is only a couple hundred, it's the paint and labor that costs. He says they buff the body for 2 days at the end of it, and it gets a lifetime warranty.

Neofreak, I said "this" car because that price is almost half of what I paid for the whole thing.

I love the car, and want to keep it a long time. I'm replacing my Evo 8 with it, and I'm investing the money to get it right. But I'm just wondering if this is reasonable/wise. I was more expecting $1.5k to $2k as stated above.

Adam, just looked at your thread. That's pretty crazy how much you put into your car. Nice job. Now I understand your End of Restoration sale.

You pay extra for prep work, so $4000 at most shops is a good amount of prep work which = good paint job. It's not so much the materials that cost extra but the time they spend prepping the body and then buffing and working the paint after it has been sprayed on the car. If I were painting my FD I would expect to spend no less than 4-5k.
