To Scoot or not to Scoot
I have a love/hate thing with that hood. That center hole seems to me that is intended for downforce to make up for the turbulance of the slanted vents on the hood.
Everyone (including myself) asks: "what about rain?" ...but what about when you wash your car?
Anyhow it's definately a racing hood. I can't see using it in rain soaked Washing state or in a state that has alot of snow. But i'm in CA
Hood pins - what's the deal with that? If you install the factory hood latch, I don't see the point.

Upgraded Cwest Nose
Anyone have any info on those little tab things he installed the sides the Cwest Bumper? Makes it look soo much better! Does that car have downforce or what? hehe
Heh, looks like he has the the same tires as me

I've also noticed a slanting position that the CWest bumper is in with relations to the ground. Less Air will of course, increase the velocity capabilities --> which was how Senna died when his F1 car came in contact with the ground. As for the downward force on the bumper and rain issues, I am also in the same boat.
There was a custom hood with a "Inverted Triangular Opening" that looks like a Viper Hood which looks good and functional (for those that are living in Rainy Areas) --> a picture on this forum somewhere but SEARCH-ing is too much for me now.
BTW, the Black FD3S looks awesome with the Scoot IMO as Black as a colour itself is subtle, making me drool for a brilliant black FD now...hee hee hee....
Nice cars....wished someone will buy my 300ZX so that I can start work on my FD soon....
Lates....

The center air duct goes to the vents on the back of the hood for cooling down the downpipe. If you don't like the center duct, you should consider the RE Amemiya AD hood 9 as seen here:

The price is $1550 for the carbon fiber one and $1150 for the fiberglass one.

I like the hood a lot, but it might look even better without the NACA duct.

Yes, you do for safety reasons. The stock latch is very weak. It's spot-welded onto the chassis and it does break off. Mine already broke off but lucky I wasn't driving my car at that time. On my friend's car, it broke off when he was driving. The "Stock Hood" smashed the windshield, roof and sun roof. I even think people with the stock hood should use hood pins. I remember when I had the stock hood, my hood was shaking like crazy when I was going 120+ mph. Now with the Scoot replica CF hood with hood pins, my hood was not shaking at all going at 170 mph.
For hood pins, buy some nice ones made by Sparco. Don't buy the hood pins from your local autoparts. Those pins are weak and they snap in half sometimes.
