Anybody with nice custom installs....
Hey, i just recently picked up an R1, and i'm a car stereo buff, but not quite sure what to do with the FD. Wanted to do Components up front, but kickpanels won't work, due to the clutch, etc. Also i can't mount tweeters on the doors, because there is no where to mount on the drivers side door. Lot of room on the passenger side door. Also what have people done with the center speaker on the dash. I was thinking of a custom baffle and maybe two 1" tweets, slightly angled, so as to have a left and right. How could attach a single speaker to an amplifier,if i went with just a replacement speaker in the dash.
If any of you who have nice jobs i would really like to see some pics, or if someone knows where i could go to see some pics. THanks for the help

You can do 3-way kicks with the right setup. Also angle tweeter mounts in the kick panel w/ mid in door works really nice. You could also consider ambient tweeters in the a-pillers. I don't really like center channels .... I might actually squeeze all of my 3-way boston's in the door!

You have the 3-way Boston pro set? How are you doign those on the driver side?
I really dont' want to mount in the a-pillar, because the separtation between the mid and the tweeter would result in awful sound imaging. Also i'd like to be symmetrical, so whatever i do on the driver sid i'd like to do on the passenger side. I just don't think i would like the look of kicks on the passenger side and no kicks on the driver side.
Thanks for any info man?

I might do the 3-way all in the door panel! Don't worry about seperation with an AMBIENT tweeter. You seet the cut frequency @ 10k and like 6 db down .... Look @ the white paper on Boston's web site to learn more. It works really good.

You can mount components in the door with a custom fiberglass enclosure that will not stick out far at all. As for center channel, I have 2 JBL's mounted in the rear view mirror. You can't see em unless you know they are there and turn the mirror so you can see the backside.
