Are you talking about a car?

If you're gonna talk to an engineer, stating the problem is a helpful skill.

Let me help you here:

1) Tittle: make it specific to a Mechanical Engineer. Why? because I'm a real engineer (as so you put it) but I can't help you. It's not my field. Also if an ME see it they are more likely to click on your thread since it's in their field.

2) Thoroughly ask the question right off the bat. The person that clicked on your thread is already in "I'm gonna help" mood. Take advantage of it because they may not feel the same way later. Or just plainly be annoyed by the way this thread is going.

3) It's annoying. Real engineers? What are you holding job interviews??? I'm not flaming. I'm just trying to help you get your answers but that's exactly what I thought when I saw your thread. So I'm sure I wasn't the only one that thought that.

People may still very likely come in and help you, but in the future you can maximize your replies by following steps 1 & 2.

Going one step further, most mechanical engineers don't really know squat about vehicle dynamics either. So, you need to ask for "automobile chassis/suspension engineers"....

I'm a mech eng student. Does that count? I've taken all sorts of statics and dynamics classes, so I can probably help. Whats your question?
