Get any decent brand 4-channel amplifier (alpine, mtx, rockford fosgate...there are several others)...you want about 50w x 4 @ 4ohm. Also, make sure the amp is bridgeable (most any decent brand should be), and see what the bridged output is @ 4ohm...make sure all these numbers are in RMS...not in "peak" or "max" ratings.

Thanks, that gives me something to look for so I don't have to bother you all with model recs

something like that should work good for your setup.

EDIT: That little alpine you just posted would work well too...it's just a lower power (30w for your speakers and 80w for your sub)..the kicker I posted is about double that for a little more money...so it really comes down to what you want to spend...and how much sound you want.

I did some research on how the speakers were setup.

I don't have front/rear fade controls... everything is on rear... so maybe all 4 speakers are on the 2 channel amp, with 1 channel being the right 2 speakers & the 2nd channel being the left 2 speakers.

I think I'll do something similar... except run 1 channel for front, 1 for rear, bridged 2 for sub. I like front/rear fade controls... but have never used the left/right fade.

That should do alright....definitely will be a step up from that jensen. Looking at those specs...if your car/alternator can push out 13.8V you'll get ~45-50watts for your fronts..and if you bridge the rear 2 channels you'll get about ~ 100watts for your sub.

Can you mount an amp inside a sub box? I'm looking at making a box that goes underneath the rear strut brace & in between the rear towers.

I read amps need to be in a ventilated place... so could I mount the amp inside the sub box & put some fans on the box to push hot air out? I would prefer a hidden amp if possible... I'm not trying to get a stereo for show... or to be stolen...

well, technically you can, but if you're going with a sealed enclosure, then I would make a second chamber for the amp, and vent that chamber and maybe run a couple fans...one blowing in and one blowing out.

Something like this...

I'd have the fan on the back push air into the box and the fan on the top pulling it out since hot air rises anyway...it'll help get the heat out...you could also add a couple more ports on the amp side to help with cooling...anyway, that's how I'd do it. I'd also make the amp section removeable so that you could access the wiring/controls if need be.

I'm planning on doing the DAMONB box, maybe with some slight changes.

So maybe make it a bit deeper by adding another box towards the front of the car to house the amp & fans?
