amp repair

i have a pyramid craystal 1600 watt amp that is a friends and it is blown. i was gonna see if i could fix it if possible. does anyone know if a)its possible to fix one of these with out to much work. and b) how would i go abouts doing this. i have done some basic stereo installs and thought i would try something a little harder. like fixing a blown amp(if possible). any info would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Pyramid?! Those amps are junk! They are in the same league as those swap meet knock-off brands like Kenford (Kenwood), BOSS (BOSE), and Rockwood (Rockford)! Their amps are way overrated and I highly doubt it puts out 1600W. If I were you, I'd use it to decorate the bottom of your garbage can.

i know this....know if i could just get some info on what i might do...it prob only put out like 500 watts if that...well i was thinking that to be nice...as i said its not mine...i sold my friend my excelron 600 watt amp so that he could get his subs working again(as some idiot rmoved the inline fuse to the amp from tha batt and fried his amp(the one that i wanna try and fix)...ohh yeah it is a 2 channel amp if that makes a difference

Hey Tong your in GA hit me up I have a ton of nice gear for sale Im sure I could find you something in your pricerange, or help you get your **** fixed if you really want to fix it....Id recommend getting something new

yes its totally possible to fix a blown amp. depending on whats wrong with it, blown power supply, fried resistors or capacitors. It is possible though.

I got a 60 watt Rockford Fosgate amp that will blow away your 1600 watt whatever it is. But as far as fixing your amp...yeah its possible the hardest thing would be diagnosing the faulty part(s). Buy a book about "printed circuit board" repair/diagnosis. GOOD LUCK!!!
