i got a precision audio hopt shot 400 watt amp that i bought off of ebay

it was already said that one channel was out

but the thing is that when i turn it on, it'll turn the sub on and everything, but it acts like its only pushing 2 watts or something
its a static-like sound
i can eliminate the sound by turning the level control way down, but then theres very little thump
and when i turn the level up, theres the statically sound and very little thump (the static sound comes when the thump should)

did you forget to hook up the wire which turns the sub on? just wiring up the pos and neg to the amp is not gonna make it turn on (at least 90% of the time it wont.) even my small 150 watt amp thumps my sub pretty good

 

no, the remote is hooked up

the sub is turning on, its just not thumpin

 

i might have found the problem, a blown mosfet,
does anyone know where you can buy them??
how much they cost, etc??

 

are you confident the sub is good. a bad sub will act the same way.

if the mosfet is bad my under standing is the amp will get real hot.

Alot of places will check your amp for 30 bucks and tell you what s wrong. Then will use the 30 bucks towards the repair. Bring to good guys or circut city

i live in semi rural iowa, and the nearest circut city is like 2 hrs away.....
