McIntosh was really good in it's day, but now you can get the same A/B class quality for much less. Especially as most can't even hear the difference.
JL Audio makes a good product but because of the established name you pay for it. Don't expect the amps to put out much more power then they are rated for. Regulated power supplies and the R.I.P.S. keeps the output constant.
My personally choices are
Alpine for the HU
Boston Acoustics for the mid-high speakers
Resonant Engineering for the subs
Massive Audio or DLS for the amplification
Ohio generator for the charging
Exide for the batteries

No mention of CDT? What gives?
CDT is the ****. I'll admit, Boston Pros are ******* awesome and so are Kappa Perfects, but high-end CDT components have been rated the best speakers in the world by many different (mainly European) organizations.
Of course, if you are spending $2K on a pair of speakers, they better be the best **** ever.
I have CDTs in my FB, but not the top of line stuff (do you think I would be driving an FB if I could afford that? :P). I have the CL-641 package in my car powered by a Kenwood V12 amp, and they sound astonishing. Certainly, I could get a higher powered amp, but the crisp, clean power that my V12 puts out really makes these speakers sound good.
I would definitely recommend CDTs if you are looking at speakers in the range of Boston Acoustic Pros and Kappa Perfects.
Here is a link to CDT: http://www.cdtaudio.com/car_audio.htm
The new 07s are there top of the line top dog speakers. The old top of the lines are the Eurosports, which absolutely kick ***.
