Alpine Speakers in a FD

I have a 93 FD and I want to replace my speakers. I am going with alpine but I don't know what will fit. Will Type-R's fit in a FD or do I have to go with Type-S's? I want the speakers to fit behind the stock speaker covers. Im getting 6.5's in the doors and 5x7's behind the seats. Will this work?

Thanks

Hey man, I would suggest no rear fill. I have been in the audio business doing installs myself and I've never used rear fill in my cars, basically, you want to get a nice set of components, amp them, and they'll sound great. You won't need rear fill even more because of how small our cabin is, amped components will give you the clarity and more volume than you need, good luck.

Hmm i have been through about 4 or 5 systems in the fd. Basically from the cover on the door panel to the window rolled all the way down is 3.3" with a little play. Anyways, I orignally had the alpine type-x which was I believe 2.7" inch and had to make a custom door pod, but it fit. I have gone through the type-x, a/d/s, dynaudio, focal and right now I am currently running a set of ultra rare monitor 1 comps powered by a diamond d7152 amp. Also as noted above, do not use rear fill, almost all of the sq competiors I know turn off their rear fill for sound competions. Throw a sub in the back and that will be plenty of fill.

Since the mounting depth in the doors is not all that much, I have decided to go with Alpine Type-S 6.5" speakers and components which has a top-down mounting depth of 2.5" so therefore they will fit behind the stock speaker covers. I have also decided not to put any speakers behind the seats. For an amp, I would like to use Alpine 4 3/2 Channel V-Power Amplifier either the MRP-F240 or the newer MRP-F250. Is this a good setup?

From what I've heard, you can fit Alpine Type-S component speakers in a FD with the bose system and all you have to do is drill new mounting holes. Can anyone else verify this?
