I want Alpine Type-S 6.5's in the front doors of my bose FD. Is it better to buy the non-bose FD speaker mounts or possibly modify the bose speaker mounts to somehow fit the 6.5 Alpine Type-S speakers? The depth of these speaker are 2.5".

Any help is appreciated,

I think between the factory mounts, and the ones that come with it, you should be able to make a very sturdy mount.
