Alpine 9835 vs 9855

I remember looking at stevez's car with the 9835 with the amber lighting on all the buttons. I heard that the 9855 is 35's replacement and wondered does it light everything all amber too. I know the 55 can color change but does it change all of it or only some of it(small buttons).

Only changes the smaller buttons, I THINK the cda-9833 can change colors to, if it does I would look into that. I own the cda-9853 and it is a step below the cda-9855 but I picked it up for 300 shipped brand new off of ebay and I could not be more happier. Also I heard people having problems with the glide touch, I think its really good and I have had it for 3 months with ZERO problems. I do not think the cda-9855 is worth the money and if you NEED the color changes I would go with the cda-9835. They go for around 200-250 on ebay, so I thought I would pay another 50 and get the next years model, in the end you really will not care what the color is.

Well I am more into how it all fits in the car. I like the amber color and would not want to ruin it with some neon green button headunit. I know nakamichi headunit are known for the stock look and amber colorm, but I am just looking into what alpine has to offer.

They are more of a light blue on the alpines, you get use to it. Also, nakamichi > Alpine, sound quality nakamichi is pretty much hard to beat, only problem is that they really dont look that good cosmetically.

So how does one go about changing the button colors on the 9853 headunit to the amber that will match the OEM dash color?

TIA

You can't change the color on the 9853. All the big buttons are blue, and then the smaller buttons light up a greenish color. I don't notice the green much. If you want the stock look you would have to find a deck where the buttons are amber with the ability to color change. It all depends on how important that is to you.
