99 spec front bumper insall question

Sad day, my FD got hit a week ago, and I have to replace the front bumper, driver's side fender, and the driver's side headlight.

So I got to thinking, I really like the 99 spec front bumper and seeing as how the shop I'm gonna take my car to quoted me almost 700 dollars for it, and I was looking at rx7store.net for the 99 spec package and was thinking well, if I can get the bumper and headlights for the same price, why not?

So here's my question. For the 99 spec bumper will I have to buy the rebar for it too, or will it work just fine without it?

Kyle

If you do a search, you will find threads where people say you don't need it and all you have to do is cut a larger hole for the 99 spec lights to fit in. I have a 99 spec bumper with a 99 spec rebar. My friend who painted the bumper said to get the rebar because eventually it can sag. Now there will be people saying different that it will not sag. I got the rebar because I want all my **** to fit oem.

Your car should come with a rebar already, all you need to do is bore out the spaces where the turn signals for the 99 bumper would go. Thats the only significant difference between the 99 and the US bumpers.

Dont waste your money on a 99 rebar.

OR. You can run the 99 bumper without a rebar. Thats what i did. SOme people say the bumper sags after a while. Ill take my chance with that.

Bore? umm, when you remove the bumper you cut open the hole for the turn signals to make them fit. Up to you, some people want to save 400 which is the cost of the rebar.

yeah, that's what I really want to do. i'm assuming the hole has to allow the turnlamp to fit snugly right? or can it be big enough for it too fit but doesn't have to be perfect.

Get the lights, remove the bumper and see for yourself. Good luck, post pics when you get the 99 spec bumper
