For all the 93 FD owners, I know I have seen some cars where the LCD is inside the passenger makeup mirror(or whatever its called), but has anyone thought of, or has anyone already put a LCD screen where the passenger airbag would normally be? I took the glovebox out and there is plenty of empty space back there for wiring etc.... anybody have pics of this done, or reasons why this couldnt/shouldnt be done? (Besides the fact the screen would be in plain view from the passenger door window screaming "break the window and steal me!")

Isnt it illegal to have it on while driving anyways? Something like if the driver can see it while driving its illegal? I know one of my coworkers has it and everytime we drive by cops he turns it off, and he told me it was illegal? BTW where in swfla are you? I am in naples, bout 30 min south of ft myers

yes it is illegal to have the tv going while driving, but not for passengers(supposed to be rear seat passengers or any place not viewable by driver but I dont care the RX is small), anyway I got this new pioneer unit(not installed yet) and the thing is, it only lets ME see the navigation map while driving, but doesnt allow you to watch movies, play video games or watch tv stations etc while driving(all of which will entertain my girlfriend on longer roadtrips- not for me to watch fast and furious while driving so no smart comments please ). My friend has this unit in his car, and it will only let the dvds etc be viewed on other screens(which he has for passenger and two in rears) but for safety legal crap, the pioneer wont allow main screen(to be viewed by driver) to do all these things unless the car is no longer in motion.
So since it is only for my passenger, I just need to add a screen for her, but since there is no room in the car, I kinda gave that idea up, but now I see how much room there is with no airbag, so I figure why not? but I dont want to go cutting into my dash right away, I was hoping maybe someone has already done this...so I could get ideas of what it would involve and how well it would look. At first I was thinking just a screen molded in, but I think another retractable unit would be more discreet. any positive ideas or comments or new suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW purerx7 I live in Punta Gorda, if you live in Naples you must know Michel(rxtt95) we are going to the Tampa Road Rally this weekend, you going?

No I do not, I just got my rx7 a few months ago. I do not know anyone around here with a 7, other than a black one I see and a red one I see sometimes, but I do not know them. I saw a boost controller(AVC-R) and another screen mounted right above the glove compartment on the passenger side, where it was flush with the dash. Anyways it looked really good and I gave it alot of consideration on it, but I really wanted the passenger airbag just incase. Also if you search yahoo I know the pioneer head units can be bypassed. My friend has the dvd navigation headunit and bypassed it somehow, btw that is a nice h/u choice. Make sure you dont run speakers to the h/u, but instead they should be running from an amp (IMO).

So does anybody have pics of anything flush mounted in the driverside dash(besides gauges?)?

off topic, but if the black car you see is fully tricked out and very fast, it is Michels most likely, but I think Naples has lots of RXs running around mostly old people though.
