'87 turbo audio *infinity*

'87 turboII
SONY CDX-M620[52x4]
-front out(RCA)
-rear out(RCA)
-sub channel(RCA)
-BUS audio in(RCA)

im running stock speakers right now and my sub channel is hooked to a crappy 180watt 2 channel non-bridgable amp powering my 12" infinity perfect. i figure it is getting 60watts at the most[there both 4ohms].

two questions; one, i want to get four kappa's as front and rear speakers.......whats the best size and way to run then[i.e. bypass stock amps?] two, what should i do about my sub situation? i want a nice reliable amp, but that has plenty of power for a sub that peaks at 1400. it should have a built in cross-over[1980's crap im using dosnt], bridgable, and not cost me a butt load(since kappa speakers will )

what do you guys think of MTX amps?

Ok first i commend you on choosing Infinity... cuz... THEY RULE!!! Anyway... MTX makes a good amp... Keep in mind that The Perfects are rated at 350RMS but you can safely put 450 - 500 in them JUST BE CAREFULL.
For your front and rear settup... get components for the front if you can afford them. And you can get 6.75's in the rear... i'd like to see pics of your settup

Alpine blows... their subs are ok but the rest sucks... Pheonix gold makes good stuff... but very expensive

I'm going with JBL...

From what i hear MTX is good but maybe you should go with Rockford Fosgate...
Quick question: When you have a lot of bass in your FC does the whole car rattle or is it pretty good with holding good sound? Cuz i am about to install A kicker solo baric s12 L7 and those hit pretty damn hard...i needa know if i need dynomatt..thanx

Rockford stuff is over rated

The only thing that rattles in my car is the hatch and passenger mirror.

I am going to be doing the same thing as you once I get the car smogged and well more maintance things first... (well something similar)

For a Turbo II its 4" in the front and 6 1/2" (i think... or they can be made to fit that size?) in the back.

I can tell you that the 4" Infinity's sound great (if you don't know already) I have them in my Starion and I think I have 6 1/2" in the back and it sounds awesome but those Infinity's definately like having some extra power from an amp. Im running them from my head unit becuase I don't want to hide any amps in the car.

Then Im going to put a 10" in the back of the RX, inbetween the strut tower and the back of the hatch, make a custom box and find a nice 10 to put in there... I was thinking of looking at Elemental Deisign or Pheonix gold. I had one in my Eclipse for a while and it sounded great. I got the sub for $100.

I'll let you know if I get my stuff put in before you're done with yours.

2nd: I have a 10" sub stuck behind the strut tower like elfking is talking about, it gets some good bass and nothing rattles due to the sub (the speakers IN the shock towers are a different story)

i just got my box secured the other day, nice clean job too......took the two middle screws out of that rib that holds down the carpet behind the storage bins and slipped two L-brackets under that i made. replace the screws and run a few into the box holds her tight and transvers the bass into the chassi nicly!

RF isnt really bad stuff......the problem i've run into is its a real component kinda deal. in other words nice speakers, nice amps, and nice subs.......if you use only them. i may have a hook-up on a memphis audio amp unless my friend wants to keep it. she had her brother do the audio in her......'85 citation :HAHAHA: two badass memphis 12's and a butt load of other stuff....it all cost like 5grand.......thats right in a citation.

anyway, im thinking MTX[since they rate them at 12.5V] or a Kenwood[had good experiences]....either way im looking for a mono channel amp at a decent price. blowing my taxe return on a greddy FMIC and then my gf's birthday is next month....looks like its time to start striping again.........j/k

so my list as of now is:
-amp[dunno which yet]
-4" kappas
-6.5" kappas
-wiring kit

i wanna do that for under 400...i dont think it should be too hard its just waiting till i have 400 for the stereo.....heh
