I have a questiona bout 60mm gauge pod s for pillar mounts.. or do anyone make steering column mount.. i know Flyrx7 makes one for the center speaker mount..

If anyone has this info.. i would greatly appreciated.. i need one to be mounted either pillar or steering column..

your best option would be to make one yourself from fibreglass. I can post details if you want

What I did was take the autometer full a-pillar replacement for 3 gauges and bored the holes out with a Dremel to fit the 60 mm gauges. I wish someone a replacement pillar that was made to fit 60mm gauges. If I knew anything about fiberglass or carbon fiber I would make one myself.

 

If you want a PERFECT shape which tucks itself out of the way and also raises in cetain places (not achievable with normal techniques) cover the steering column/pillar with about 2 layers of thick masking tape. Now get a big dollop of either clay or plastecine and mould the shape you want. try to make it a bit smaller than you need, because you're now going to cover it in fibreglass!! (don't use the stuff which comes pre-mixed for this though)

Make it about 2 layers thick, then GENTLY prise it off (if you're using clay, just dump it in water!) you now need to check that your instruments fit, and then add another 2 layers of fibreglass to the inside.

By now you should have a big lump of fibreglass which has a really dodgy surface and be around 5 - 10mm thick.

Now to finish it. Get the remainder of your resin and mix in a fine powder like talcum powder or any other fine powder which won't go off. cover your "creation" in this stuff and wait for it to harden. you should now sand it down until you get a smooth finish (it's a bitch to do, but it's worth the effort). Now prime it and spray it!

If you're doing the steering column, add some steel strips into the fibreglass and then fix a bolt into it, making sure the bolts are all level. Mark where the bolts will pass through the bodywork, drill, and then bolt it on from the other side

Fibreglass cracks like a bitch! so be carefull when bolting it down not to do it too tight.

 

Wow.. thats lot of work.. i have asked flyrx7 if he would give me a deal on his 3 pods.. if its reasonable.. i will get his and sell my center speaker 52mm pods.. Otherwise, i guess I will either mess with fiber glass or bore out the 52 and see if I could fit the 60mm's.. thanks guys.. do any of you have pics of your work??

The only thing I can get a pictue of is my sub loader - it's a custom box which basically seals the frame of the sub, but has a port to enable air flow. But it's tucked up under my rear shelf in my mini - so it would be a very shoddy picture (plus it's pretty plain - just a black blob)

 

I guarantee that won't work, as the OD of the 52 pods is the same as the ID of the 60's, so in reality, the 52 pod fits into the 60, snugly.
