heh, sorry. Guess i could have worded that a little better. The reciever has a threaded hole in the back that you have to screw into the back of the DIN slot (hole). I have the metal strap thing with the holes, but i need to know how to get a screw through there seing as how its way back where my hands can certainly not reach.

Ahhh!
My Pioneer unit has the same style (DIN) mounting, although it is used in many instances, it did not seem appropriate in the RX7 install.
I removed the stock brackets from the original radio and screwed them on to the sides of the Pioneer deck, this way I could used the factory metal brackets and their mounting points.
Because the dash area behind the radio is all plastic, either you have to use the stock brackets or make your own, with the stock ones the rear mount that you refer to was not used. I tried a couple of install kits but they looked terrible (cheap).
There is a thread (Mazdaspeed7) about carbon fiber radio surround but they might prove to be very expensive, I'm thinking of making a mould for just the radio cavity and doing it fiberglass. Right now it's just wood covered in vinyl attached to the stock brackets (damn, I need a digital camera, the pictures would explain it all!), still looks better then the install kits that I tried, but I'm not happy yet...

I am sure mazdaspeed7 would be interested in making the stereo trim in FG if thats what you wanted. I am the one that had the center console piece made originaly, he does good work:-D.
