3rd Gen Alarm / Keyless Entry Install

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any experience installing their own alarm / keyless entry for a 3rd Gen.

I'm trying to figure out if it is worth it for a shop to convert my power assisted locks to keyless power door locks, install alpine sec-8063 w/ dual radar for 750.00

I have found the alarm for 240 and the radar addon for 40.00. Is the rest of the installation and wiring for the door actuators worth the exra dough?

Aslo, what kind of door actuators do we need to convert to keyless entry?

Thanks for any help.

I have seen 2 FD's with broken door locks due to aftermarket alarm that utilize a door mechanism to lock/unlock doors.

The clips on the FD door lock hanger are plastic, sooner or later due to the impact of the alarm mechanism they will break off, and u won't be able to open ur door.

I know cuz I am one of them. I had to jimmied the door open, and find spare parts off another FD parts car and fixed it.

Ever since, I decided screw the alarms on the FD. Get full coverage.

Is there anyway to just replace them w/ metal? Are they're lock kits outthere that use metal instead? I already would have to replace my lock due to either someone trying to car jack me, or the plastic keyhole cover broke and jammed my lock.

THanks,
Frank

A simple solution to that is to put a zip tie around the plastic clip that locks the metal rod to the lock hadle. You can do this for the door handle too while you're in there. Just as a preventative measure.
