holy crap - don't be so fast to dump your touring bose system

Uh so if anybody read my previous thread, I decided to wire the preamp outs of my new headunit to the preamp ins of the stock touring bose amplifiers. However I figured out that the head unit puts out 1.8V on those lines when the bose amps take 5.5V max. Levels were way too low.

So I gave in and used the converter crutchfield sent me to bring the amplified line-outs to high power preamp levels. Since it's level-tunable, I played around a bit and - oh my god. Those bose acoustic wave deals in the back can put out serious damned bass when you drive them harder. The stock bose head unit just blows.

I was considering getting new speakers, but ****.. now I'm happy.

By the way - the new Kenwood MP8017 cd/mp3 player is available (unadvertised) from crutchfield for $350. It's damn cool.

not offhand. if you order from crutchfield they ask you what car you've got and they suggest it to you (they might even tell you if you just call - they're pretty nice), but I can check on it when I get home from work.
