1st gen sound

I've got a '84 GS, and after the stock radio broke, I went to best buy and got a new CD player and 4 new speakers, all Pioneer stuff.

I'm not sure what model the speakers are, but the tweeter looks like a rotor.

Anyway, they bypassed the stock amp becuase they are lazy, and installed these things that reduce distortion at high volume levels.

well, when I drove it home I was happy to find out that the bass that comes out is VERY distorted, and sounds similar to a Light Saber.

Even with low bass settings and low volume, the distorted bass is still heard.
I talked to Best Buy, and they had no clue, because they are idiots..
any idea?

thanks

they hooked the speakers up straight out the stero, no amp @ all? If so i would say shitty wires. If a amp is present i would buy new wires, RCA cables and speaker wires. But b4 you rip your wires out, bypass that distortion blocker thing and c if it works.
Also if you have a amp it would pay to invest in oxygen-less connections, elimantes noise generated by the motor and other stuff

They bypassed the factory amps cause it will sound better w/o them and the stock amps are junk. I bypass them all the time, unless they are BOSE amps then I usually use them, of course they are junk too, but anyways its easier on Bose ones to keep them cause they make plug in interfaces for them.

The grills with rotor looking center are Kickers

The little things on the speakers, you are refering to are bass capcitors and work quite well...

Oxygen-less connectors does nothing for reducing interference or distortion.. All it does is keeps the connectors and wire from corroding.. If you want to reduce IF or EMI then buy shielded Rca cords
