1st Gen Dash Repair or Replacement - Help

I'm new to the board, so forgive me if this has been covered before. I'm in the midst of a long (3+ years) rebuild of an '83 Ltd. Edition. FInally got to the body.

Need to know what are my optionsto repair or replace a cracked dash (burgundy). Any sources also appreciated.

THanks, Dboy

Replace it with a nice one from a wrecking yard. Doing this will give you a heads up on what it will take to remove the one from your 7. Or you may be able to buy one new, but good luck finding one. You could just repair your dashboard while it's in place, but removing it to be replaced will give you the opportunity to clean up and check all the wiring connections and replace any faulty instruments and ventilation control cables etc...etc

I have a dash in my 83 that is in need of replacement or repair also,I have done almost all the interior except for that and I have 2 84s with great dashes, but was informed that in order to replace it with one of those I have to remove the whole subframe and wiring and everything else,so I have decided to bag that idea. I looked through the Victoria British catalog and they have dash covers that you glue onto the top of your old one for $79.95,so if you dont want to go through all the hassle of removing your old one you could go that way. I recently replaced the dash in my 86 and man let me tell you,its a b*tch, getting the old one out was way easier than getting the new one in without breaking it. Have yet to do a first gen dash, good luck.

Thanks for responding. I've always wondered how effective that dash repair kit/cover from Victoria was. Any comments?

THanks, Dan
