I formulated a question
Would someone tell me if posts in your photo albums would generate a notification like guest comments? I have a couple of friends I asked to view my pics. One sent me a PM. If the other leaves comments in the album, I don't want to keep looking back to check?

experiental learning
Well, I sure learned to create my OWN thread..... I started a new one each time I wanted to post.
I'm starting to understand thread flow, ownership, and I'm going to study the hell out of the post that shows how to use quotes so that I can respond clearly.
I INTEND to keep this thread active for my growth in function. I wish I could uncreate a thread or two.
I'll learn from THIS post. I can see I have titled the REPLY? here. I don't really know the title of the thread I am actually adding to. I just wholeheartedly believe that it is one that I created.

How'd they do that?
In the "Inrtoduce Yourself" forum there are 6 (I think) threads to read, so you can post. I don't really need a post count, but I am frustrated that I never "got it" with that feature.
I know they are all only good for 1 count.... After you've read them once are they unavailable? Did I read them all and not now how to post a reply, and now they're unattainable?
You may laugh at my foibles, if you like (I need to), if you'll only HELP me get beyond them.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far. My frustration has not forced me to give up. Good things are worth working at.

Unless, of course, it gets mean-spirited and folk posting can't be knid...then the Mods are known to make those threads disappear...
If you have specific problems and you're not getting the answers you want or understand, the "mgmt" staff is always a PM away...

Still confused
I have checked, and checked. I can see that I can post forever and a day. I can't find the LINK TO READ. I can go to the thread and say "read it" when I haven't read **** (and I suspect that someone will see through that). Besides I don't want to fake anything. I want to know what I should be reading. Thanks for responding. I need to ask elsewhere I guess. What works for you may have been taken from me in my ignorance? or I just don't know what to look for.

Yes, I guess you could consider me "staff." There's no actual legitimate paid stuff, just a bunch of us old-timers that have been on here since the beginning, or close to it, who moderate the boards and classifieds ads. If you go to the bottom of any board, you'll see a listing of the moderators responsible for that particular domain. They are to be considered "staff." Because I post in the combat section of this board, I don't keep "SuperModerator" under my screen name, so I can see why you're wondering why I suddenly jumped in here. Anybody you see with a blood red screen name will be either a SuperModerator or Administrator, who can do anything you want to get done with a thread if it passes the 30 minute timer limit for allowing you to edit your own threads. Just PM us with the request and copy and paste the link in the PM so we can take care of it quicker. The Admins are more responsible than I and are ID'd under their screen name...DrKillJoy is one of them but they tend to affairs of a more difficult nature like hack attacks. The Moderators are supposed to be more involved at the ground level but that isn't always the case.
Regarding the "reading" threads that are sticky's...those ARE, in fact, posted there to allow "fake" posts and to allow new users both an opportunity to build a quick post count and to get "stupid" posts out of their system...stuff like "wuzzup RX7 Club! Yea!"...it is the ONLY place where one word replies are allowed for the New Members. Any such "fluff" found elsewhere should normally be deleted by the Moderators when found but, again, this isn't always the case. "Fake" is not a thing to worry about in those threads. Your mettle will be tested when you start swimming in the deeper waters of the regular boards...
For now, play in the New member section and have fun with it..build up the post count and learn what you can!

I had DrKillJoy pegged as Staff (probably not to be bothered by my birthing). I have noticed you advising others, and StarScreamFD has held my hand a bit.
I think I'll make it.
Thanks again, I now know better how to ask for help.

More questions
I've tried to look at the bottom of this board for a list of staff and I don't see it. I think I saw about 10 member IDs at the bottom on some board somewhere, but this is where I dwell, and I don't see it.

Thanks
I am desperately seeking a first generation daily driver, as I sold my first RX7 within a week of fetching it. It needed a LOT of work, and it's winter. I would be glad to find something that needs about 1/2 as much effort to start with. The totally shot bushings were most disturbing. I don't have a garage and the car didn't even have a jack.
Anyway, all this searching had me happen into the "other" RX7 site. Having learned what a forum basically is, by now, I navigated the site enough to see the for sale postings. Can't describe exactly why I like this site a lot better, but you all have made a good community meeting place.
I am grateful for your commitment. I am starting to see how the group cares for and protects each other. I am glad to be a member. NOW I NEED A CAR!
I used to lust after a '69 Camaro (had one once). But now nothing matches up to the RX7.
So glad I'm not alone in the madness. I AM going to have a replacement as my next vehicle. Sure hope I'm not without for too long. As a family we still have 1 vehicle. My husband's truck that my first 7 was traded for.
Again, glad you're here.
Thanks

Well, your post count is certainly high enough, so go to the "1stgen vehicles for sale" board and place a "WTB" ad...make sure you use your location icon for that ad and be as specific or as general as you want describing what you're looking for.

I have been watching the responses to other peoples WTB ads and PMing anything that looks good to me that the thread starter does not pursue. Is that uncool?
I will post my own as well. Soon. I just learned how to not get stuck surprised with a Fuel Injector instead of a carb.

No, it's not uncool...you're just lurking and taking advantage of opportunity knocking. If you don't respond in the thread, though, "documentation" is lost if a dispute arises over who "called" first...once a seller or buyer deletes his PM bucket, that info is gone and we have to go to the thread for the "timestamp" to settle the dispute.
