How many posts to unlock all sections of the forum?
Please read this carefully. This is not an online classifieds service or website. Learn about the cars FIRST. Learn about rotaries and their wonderful advantages and their pitfalls FIRST. Be a part of your local rotary community FIRST.
THEN you can think about buying or selling here. If you can't even do the first part, then we really don't want you trying to unload junk on us or end up, at 11 posts, buying parts you don't understand or are "very disappointed in the quality and the seller on this website", when the BUYER is the problem.
It's tough love at the internet level. We're stopping these kinds of members from being hurt in our own special way.
ps. You drew that red bullseye.
Let's see what I find.
You start by looking at the introduction threads and noting the Location Icon next to the thread. Identify the ones that have your state on them and there's a group of people to say hi to and explain how you're just joining too, talk about your car, ask about theirs....those are easy, legitimate posts to make and you learn something. What I bolded in color? That's NOT why we want you joining! The last sentence in your post? I just checked the settings and you only need 3 measly posts to start a thread in that board and none to view everything there...so why did you REALLY mention that "restriction" that doesn't exist?
Oh, my. Am I reading this right? Silly? Well, well, well. Did you not read ANY of this thread? There's a reason this website is so clean of the crapola you see on everyone else's website. "Silly." Sheesh.
Thank you. A person that gets it. The member even can write complete sentences correctly with perfect spelling. This is who we want to join. Someone who's demonstrated intelligence will be able to get past the normal problems seen when dealing with misfit rotary engines and rexes...and y'all will see them, at every price range and every generation of RX-7.
June 2004 join date? I can't believe I missed that the first time around. All the old "legacy" members who manage to find their old accounts and re-activate them as opposed to starting a new one always earn my respect and undying gratitude. I've solved your dilemma.
lol...ok, guys...this is NOT a "Read This" thread where you get to bump your post count. I could see the deleted posts before I removed them to free up server space. Unless your reply is more than 7 words long and actually says something substantial to the conversation here, you're drawing a big red bullseye on yourself for the moderation team to shoot at. They WILL look at the rest of your posting history and you WILL suddenly see your post count drop as they get rid of your post whoring.
Don't do it. Please. Especially don't reply now with doofus one worders or short whoring like "understood," "wow," "exactly! FTW!," "good to know," "always wondered this," or some variant of the above, 6 words or less.
Back to the to the thread now.

I just found out 20 are required to post new thread in 3rd gen section. Guess I need to get busy and add my $.02 to some threads. Never had much need to post as much infomation is found by a search and covered rather well. Have seen too many get responses "search" so that did add to my relutance to post. It is what it is and I alway play by the rule, yea right.

If there was no restrictions on access, then they wouldn't be able to weed through people who only wanna use the forum as a Craigslist substitute. Plus, there would actually be no outside incentive to try and be involved in the community

Yes, some boards are set up like that as "teasers." Historically, they've had problems, so if you want to just read titles to get an idea of what's in there, you can....later, as you post productively in the New Member Section boards, you'll get more and more access to the other regular boards where fools and nitwit questions are met with acidic rebuttals and "universal" condemnation.
We want all you New Members to get grounded in these New Member Section boards first so you don't make the kinds of mistakes that draw that kind of attention. We want you to learn how to post constructively and participate intelligently by doing it here first.
The 2ndgen board is particularly brutal, for some reason.
If it's hard to get into a particular board, it's because that board is a problem area we've had to "fix" too many times in the past. Over-policing gets old after a while.
And, as an asides and to reinforce the notion we DON'T want people joining just to buy - a Forum Vendor just got ripped off $200 because he dealt - in PM's only, no less, which the mgmt here says don't do, foo'..! - with a New Member who bought and picked up an engine and then refused to pay the remaining balance via PayPal as agreed when he left the premises with the engine.
The guy had 10 posts. He hasn't been on the forum since the day before that happened last week.
'Nuff said.

Have to admit I was more than a wee bit anoyed with the post count rules at first but after reading this thread it does make sense. Definitely more hard core than most forums I'm a part of and shall not mention here, but I think its cool the forum sets that high of a standard. Still can't wait to start checking the classifieds to find my FD roller...
To be honest this is a great way to stop said scammers. I know omn our rc forums we were starting to have this problem. And since the minumim post requirements went up it also seemed that the quality of information has gone up! Sincemy rx8 has gone to the girlfriend its time for me to crunch on finalyl getting a fd!
_What_ they are trying to accomplish is obvious; I'm just not sure I agree with their methodology.... But hey, we don't run the place nor would I want to.

If it makes anyone feel better, I'm also a member of a Ford Bronco forum and they require 75 posts before you can view all sections - including the classifieds. It's bloody ridiculous. If you were a noob, or a bloody good mechanic with no spare time for "posting" you'd never make the 75 posts. Makes me angry.
Yes, it will count as a post in the New Member boards. This is not true, however, across the entire website. The Lounge and the West, for instance, have no post counter. Read Sgt Fox's rules for posting so you don't go spinning your wheels. Where we find them, we delete any and all "
,""
,"" welcome, "" congrats, "" clean ride, "or " i need parts!! " type posts. Your post count will drop as a result.
Again, I emphasize this....do not join just to buy or sell stuff here at RX-7 Club. Participate first and then pick up parts from members based on knowledge gleaned from your participation.
The outline is given in the second post. There are a few "problem" boards where the count has been made higher to keep the younglings out.
This post, coming on the heels of the other one, is the stuff we delete. I'm leaving it this time as an example because it is not a legitimate post at all. Regurgitation of a post coming on the heels of the originator is what parrots do.
