Haltech why must ingiters be used before CDI boxes is using CDI boxes on the lead only
why must ingiters be used before CDI boxes is using CDI boxes on the lead only
Real simple question, I have always read that igniter's must be used between the haltech and a CDI box if using CDI boxes only on one of the 3 or 4 possible (direct fire=4, waste spark=3) ignition channels with a 13B.
Can someone tell me why??
Does the reason still apply to the E8/E11 where you can set spark mode individually for lead and trail?
If anyone can provide some light on this subject it would be much appreciated.

Update, I called and spoke to haltech USA, we came to the conclusion over the phone that it should work without igniters on lead for halwin 1.71 that is, the CDI box taking the place of the igniters for lead, still running the stock trail igniters and coils.
This is true because 1.71 has a separate setting for spark edge (rising/falling) for lead and trail, and the CDI box can operate in constant charge mode.
I am going to test this and look for drift between lead and trail up to at least 4000 RPM before running like this.
