value of the au dollar vs us dollar

About two weeks ago I talked to an unnamed shop and was planing to buy an E11 but I was told due to the fact that there is no longer a us dist. for haltech and the value of the AU dollar that it would be over $2000. I really dont mind spending the money if that is the case because that is the shop that I want to tune my car.But I have found a V2 E11 for as low as $1500. Am I geting screwed?

you are paying the legitimate markup for a part of this type. remember you are likely to need the local distributor for assistance and this is figured into the price. there are likely places that have it cheaper but will they be there to help you when and if you have a problem? support you local shop it may come in handy down the line. also the US dollar has taken some big hits recently against almost all foreign currencies

tims is bascially right, the us dollar in the last year or so has lost a lot of its value, since the haltech is priced in aus its gotten more expensive. at $1500 they are prolly gonna loose money

I understand the principal of loyalty, but after tax that is a $650 difference.

it is not loyalty it is service. they will be more likely to service a product they sold you(some bad shops don't but most reputable one do). I would also get an up to date price for anything over seas. I recently bought a new seat from a company in New Zealand and the price changed daily.

We are about to list our Haltech prices in AUD because the conversion rate changes on a hourly basis.
Haltech does have a retail pricing level and our price listing reflects close to the USD converted equivalent. Haltech Australia does sell directly to end-user/customers in US at the retail prices, but keep in mind that shipping charges and import customs are significant amounts. We understand that some US dealers adjust their prices to cover those costs.
