Solution: Importing E6K Datalogs into Excel (separate columns)
These are the exact steps used to insert a datalog from my old crusty Compaq laptop into an Excel spreadsheet on my home PC. You might find your application varies some.
Some of my first attempts only yielded the column headings once imported. After using the different software this problem went away.
I used this version of software found at: http://www.hitman.hm/e6k634u.zip
Once I fixed this the data was all in one column. The follow shows how to avoid this.
1) Load datalog file
2) Hit “P” for Print
3) Hit “F” for File
4) Key in any file name i.e. “Test”
5) Enter First Page Number i.e. “1”
6) Enter Second Page Number i.e. “4”
7) Hit any key besides “Esc” and “R”
8) Hit “Enter” to return to datalog screen
9) Under the File Menu Exit the Haltech Program
10) Insert a floppy. Find “test.txt” file. Mine was in c:\. Under the file directory (c:\) type “copy test.txt a:” and press “Enter” to copy to the floppy drive.
11) Remove floppy and put in PC that has Excel.
12) Make a copy of “test.txt” and rename is “test.xls”. Say “OK” to the warning about making the file unusable.
13) Open Excel. Under File select “Open” and select “test.xls” from the floppy drive. It should prompt you with a screen, click the “Delimited” radio button, and then “Next”.
14) On the next screen select the “Space” button and hit “Next” and then “Finish”.
15) The data should all be in separate columns. I don’t know how to make the asterisk appear next to the vacuum values. It also might be wise to delete the page number rows.
hope this helps,
Justin
