s5 TPS Wiring? And some other gauge cluster stuff.

Hi guys. I couldn't find anything on the series 5 TPS.

All the how-tos and walkthroughs I've seen talk about being able to use the stock S5 TPS, but none say how.

Which wires do I splice into? There are six wires connecting the TPS unit on the throttle body, but only three wires used for the E6K.

Also, what steps must one take so that the gauge cluster instruments work properly? IE volts/coolant temp/oil pressure/etc.

Lastly (off the top of my head), when you rewire the fuel pump, the fuel level sender is unaffected, right?

Thanks a lot. I hope to get this puppy running soon, it's been waay too long.

Victor

if you look in the manual you want to wire up the wide range tps. theres also something floating around the forums too

the only guage you have to remember is the coolant temp, the wire for that runs in the engine harness

the sender is unaffected

It would be easier to get ahold of a S4 tps, it has only three wires so its pretty straight forward. It also has a nice rotating cam that you can reposition on the throttle linkage that works nicely.

I have one of each. I have an S5 TB and an S4 TB with all the stuff still connected. Every source I've seen says that the S4 TPS cannot be used, and that the haltech-supplied TPS must be used in place. If this is untrue, let me know.

I'd rather just splice and cut some existing wires, though, than take off all the crap i don't know how to take off of the TB and mount the Haltech TPS.

This is untrue, ive talked directly to matt(haltech tech) and you may use either or TPS. i chose the s4 and the bracket due to the simplicity of install. About the install, just study both t-bodies carefully and keep in mind you need a complete sweep from closed throttle to WOT. I need to get some digital pics on so you can see what im talking about.

This is untrue, ive spoke directly to haltech and the s4 or s5 tps will work fine. I chose the s4 since it was already 3wires and its movement was the full range of the throttle body. If i get some digital pics i post them for you.

yeah the s4 tps works fine, the e6k/x only uses it for decel fuel cut, and accelerator pump.

you should look in the fsm

I know this is a little off topic but what does the E11 use the tps for? I know its a little more than decel fuel cut and accelerator pump right?

you dont need the full range, unless you're using the wide open throttle map
