IL Questions about the PS1000 ecu

So my car has been having some troubles. It randomly dies and is not load/rpm dependent. While inspecting the relays within my 13b terminated harness from Haltech I noticed something very odd. When the car is running I unplugged the ecu power relay figuring the car would die as any factory ecu would. The strange thing that happened is the car stays running without the ecu relay plugged in. I then turned the car off and started it back up without the relay in and once again to my amazement it started....hmmm.... how is this possible? I noticed that the power feed wire to the ecu from the ecu relay remained hot even when the relay was unplugged. I also noticed that if I unplug the injector relay the power feed to the ecu relay goes dead. So further investigation into this mystery lead me to unplugging the 24 pin connector to the ecu and leaving the injector relay hooked up the ecu power feed wire goes dead again. This leads me to believe that the ecu is back feeding power through itself. Now, I am new to Haltech ecu's and exactly how they work but I have a very extensive knowledge of Ford vehicles as I have been a mechanic for them for over 35 years. My question to all the Haltech guru's is this normal?? From the Haltech diagrams I see that the only place that the ecu picks up power is from switched 12v at the ignition which powers up the associated relays. In my case power is coming from elsewhere such as the ecu itself having feed back. Please help me out if possible, I would like to know if this is normal or if anyone has noticed this before.

Red/green red and red/white are all connected to battery. The pink is ignition(sw 12 volts).
I'm no wiring Guru,I am just getting that from the install instructions.
