no load AFRs

what should the no load AFRs be on my street ported FC with an E6K? Right now they are in the 11.5-12.0 range, as soon as I lean it out to ~13.5-14.0:1 it gets very "lopey", should I tune for a smooth reving motor, or for the AFR? Also, once I adjust a value, that's it, right, do I need to take an additional step to save that info to the ECU? I am trying to get as much of the corrections, and base map done as I can, then maybe I'll try my hand at blowing up the motor So I'll be posting some questions, about general corrections etc for the E6K. the car currently runs O'k, but I have two maps set up by two different tuners, and the corrections, and set-up info are a little different. Basicly, what i did was to get the car to temp, and then pull fuel, ~2-3% at a time til I got in the mid 13s, then I would move to the nextt range. When I did this, I ended up with a lean spot at ~2750 rpm where the engine will hunt, if I richen up the 2500, and the 3000 ranges, I have to go to ~11.5:1 to get rid of the hunting behavior. Do you need to "goose" the throttle after each adjustment before taking out more fuel in a particular range? thanks, Carl

Lean it out till it starts to surge.
Surging indicates it's too lean.
A lot has to do with ignition timing also.
All you're doing is trying to tune for better gas mileage.

Well, gas milage is not too much concern at this point, the car is hesitating now, so i think I will put the fuel back. Carl

Yeah, I just keep leaning until it lean surges and put a little fuel back.
That's the end of that.
