Need help
Hi,
I have a 88 RX-7 Turbo. I am in a real bind right now, let me tell you what I have done and what is going on. I installed a j-spec motor in my car along with a E6K. I tried starting the car it ran but really rich with smoke pouring out the back (smelled like gas) I figured I had a lot of vacuum leaks which I had. I plugged some of them up and the car idled a bit better but still smoke. I tried hooking up the timing light on the T1 and there was nothing there. Nothing on T2 as well. I was getting a signal from L1 and L2. So basically the car was running on the leading coils. But at least it ran. I decided to look for more vacuum leaks and did find some. I plugged them up and tried cranking the car. now it would not even start. It would turn over but would not start. I tried hooking up the timing light to L1 again while trying to start the car and I would get erratic flashes on the timing light. I was also getting nothing on L2 which is strange because aren't those supposed to be firing at the same time?
My question is, I have checked and re checked the wiring and it seems as by Hitman's instructions, how can I check if The haltech is sending a signal to the Trailing coils? Also do you have any ideas what the problem could be? Any help is really appreciated.
Thanks
Hassan

I would make sure all wiring is correct and all connections are soldered, no crimp connectors. The only way to check the signal to the igniter is with an oscillascope(spelling?). also may have to make some changes to the map if the black smoke continues(very rich condition). plugs on the leading side could already be fouled and this is why it looks like it is running on the trailing only. check the plugs and wiring and make some changes to the map. have a couple sets of new plugs ready while doing the tuning, you will need them.
