Factory tach should work fine as long as you didnt' cut all the wires that go to the trailing coils.
Also as long as you have the trigger wire correct and the software settup correctly.

someone told me to hook up the leading coil wires. do these need to be hooked up too? i will tap the factory trailing harness back into the tailing coils.
thanks

Tach?

i now have all the original wires hooked up from both leading and trainling coils. still no tach. must i retain the factory ecu? is there a way to just hard wire the factory tach to the tacho output?
thanks

dont think so

i have all the factory igniter wires run to the ignitors. i Dont have the factory ecu in, is this a problem? i lloked up the wireing schematic and the tach input is the yel wire and it shows it coming from the trailing coil. ??? should i cut this wire and run it to a tacho out put of the e6k?
thanks

this might be it

i cut all the unnessassary wires on the main engine harness. all except the coolant wires. i think the resisor pack some how was completeing this circuit. do you think this could be the problem? i'll check into it

ok it works!

i ended up cutting the yellow wire with blue stripe right behind the tach and hooking it directly to the factory tacho output on the leading coil. this is a short wire with a female bullet connector.
