How to test LS1 Coils

Does any one know how to test LS1 Coils.

I tried comparing the resistance on the four terminals on 8 coils (4 GM, 4 MSD). I found on the Gm coil I would get the same resistance between A-B and A-C, I did the same on the MSD coil. I notice the MSD had more between A-B but had lower resistance between A-C. Now I'm not sure if it MSD designed that way, or my MSD coils are bad. Well the car ran fine on the GM coils but will run and idle for 5 sec on the MSD coils then die. I have the charge time set to 4.5ms, and I was thinking maybe the charge time on the MSD need to be raised, but I still need to try it.

This is what I got across the 4 terminals

MSD
A-B 112.7-113.3ohm
A-C 112.9-113.5ohm
D-C 3.8-5.7ohm

GM
A-B 33.5-38.0ohm
A-C 33.4-38.2.0ohm
D-C 109-94ohm

I know one msd coil is bad since A-C and D-C terminals
were zero

If its the MSD coils your having problems with I would post on the MSD forums for a test procedure. Otherwise if the OE coils I would look up the service manual from the vehicle that they came from and follow those tests. I'm running around 6 ms on my oe and MSD coils but the majority of output should be there in the 3-5 ms range of charge anything beyond that is of a much smaller benefit.

I will try and remember to test my MSD's when I get home. I know mine work, and they are by the way for sale (sorry shameless plug).

No, he's saying go to the MSD website and check out their forum. I would just call them. They've always been friendly enough on the phone with me.
