Sorry for the long Post!!

First off I have a 93 street ported FD. The mods are few, I removed the pre cats insides other wise its stock. The turbos are factory sequential and I like it that way but could go non-sequential. I live in Ca. and surely wish to smog the car one way or another. I wont however clean pipe etc.
I like to do all the work and wont pay anyone to do anything. I have lots of experience with fuel injection and computer controls.
The engine now runs rich I have a map sensor PFC and have it set to -30% at idle speed and it helps but its not what I would like to keep.
With a Street ported engine I assume I need a engine management system so I like what I have read about the Haltech so far but what things have you guys seen which trouble you. There's always something you seem to learn after you buy and wish you knew before you made the decision.
I see there are a lot of add-ons to the basic kit. I am not interested in outfitting with things I don't really need to get the system up. I am good with my stock boost levels at 10 psi and don' want to get new sensors unless I really need them. I am also very experienced in making electrical harnesses so I just want the basic stuff. What is the basic peaces I need to get things going and as well as a good vendor to work with. Really sorry for the long post. John

It depends on how big a streeport you plan to run. If you get a fairly small or medium size the stock ecu could probably run it, or you could just get it chipped. As far as what you'll need; you will need the new map sensor, coolant temp, air temp, and TPS. That's all I can remember off the top of my head. The rest you just connect i.e. injectors, fuel pump, power, ground, etc. If you take your time and check over everything to make sure it's right, than you should have no problem installing it. You can find base maps for fd's and then tune from there to meet your specific engine requirements. Hope this helps, and if I'm wrong on anything someone please correct me. Don't want to give out misinformation

SnowmanSteiner,
Thanks for the info,
My street port as you know has lower vacuum across the board thus runs far too rich and likely has a retarded ignition curve as well. I don't like paying for anything at all and am a big boy and will except the hard consequences. I spent the last 20 years as a tune up and drive-ability tech with general motors. I love the idea of being able to map the fuel and timing curves as well as setting addon subsystems. I have time to do the leg work but do need some input on the best system for someone who wishes to do all the setup. I would love a power fc but being so restrecive to the end user I can't see being tied to some tune up shop who will just pound my engine to death. Thanks for the input.
